Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa Blog – A Riviera Maya Gem
With so many choices in Mexico in and around the Riviera Maya for lodging it can be hard to decide on the right one for you trip. When researching, look no further than the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa. Tucked away on a secluded stretch of beach, the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa on the Riviera Maya truly is a special place. This ultimate luxury resort has just over 60 rooms ensuring that your every need will be catered to during your stay.
Arriving at the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa I was warmly greeted with a welcome drink and plenty of hospitality. After a quick tour of the property it was time to grab lunch. One of the two main restaurants on property, El Restaurante served up some delicious food with amazing views. Sitting in the shade overlooking the ocean was the perfect way to start the trip. The other restaurant is El Sol (I went there for dinner later in my trip and the food was incredible). Following lunch, I was shown to my room. Airy and bright is the best way to describe my oceanfront suite. The suite was spacious and I absolutely loved the hammock on the balcony – definitely spent a few lazy hours in it. That said, the best part is the room was about 15 steps from the beach.
Speaking of the beach…One of the best features of the property is that it is on a secluded stretch of beach – which can be hard to find along the Riviera Maya! The sand is perfectly white and great for long walks while enjoying the crystal-clear water. As a small resort, there is plenty of space on the beach to grab a chair and best of all there is lots of space between them, so you really do get a nice private feel when relaxing on the beach. The staff is attentive and come around with cool towels, frozen fruit, and water throughout the day. You can get lunch of the beach – the menu is from Freddy’s Tequila and Ceviche Bar – if you don’t want to leave your idyllic view. For guests looking for more adventure, the Belmond Maroma can assist with everything from taking a ride on a jet ski, snorkeling, sailing, or scuba diving. Between the beach service, the view, walks on the beach (and dips in the ocean), along with snorkeling and scuba diving, I think I barely left the beach during the day.
However, one of the few reasons to leave the beach during the day is to spend some time at the Kinan Spa. The Kinan Spa is truly an oasis where you can experience healing Mayan rituals. It is no wonder it was voted #1 Best Spa in Mexico and Latin America by Conde Nast Traveller. My spa treatment was the perfect remedy for a tiring day relaxing on the beach!
Overall, I had an amazing stay at the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa. My 4 nights was not enough! Between the secluded beach, amazing food, and quaint property there really was no better place to unwind along the Riviera Maya than at the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa. A post about the property wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the staff. They are truly what makes the Belmond Maroma so special and have you planning your return stay the moment you leave.
