Project Spotlight: Atlanta Architecture Photography – Photographing a Medical Training Facility at Albany State University
Photographing a medical training facility at Albany State University for an architecture client was an exciting opportunity to highlight how architects create spaces for students in a unique setting. The facility was designed to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for medical professionals, and my goal was to translate that into compelling images as an Atlanta Architecture Photographer.

Before the shoot, I met with the client to understand their vision for the space. They emphasized elements such as flexible layouts, innovative technology, learning spaces, and integration with the look and feel of the campus. This insight helped guide my approach to composition and lighting.

The facility included various key areas – simulation rooms, training rooms, collaborative spaces, and a working ambulance. I focused on capturing how the architectural design supported functionality, ensuring that each space was depicted as both practical and visually striking.
Medical training facilities rely on precise lighting, combining natural and artificial sources. I scheduled the shoot to maximize natural light while carefully balancing artificial sources to maintain consistency and minimize glare. This approach helped highlight the facility’s clean, high-tech aesthetic.

To create a sense of realism, I collaborated with facility staff to ensure the environment appeared active yet uncluttered. Props such as medical equipment, mannequins, and seating arrangements were strategically positioned to reflect the facility’s purpose without overwhelming the composition. We added people to the images to showcase how the space, and tools within the space, are designed to be used.

This project was an incredible opportunity to document a cutting-edge medical training facility through architectural photography. By capturing both the functional and aesthetic elements, I was able to provide my architecture client with a strong visual narrative that highlights their design expertise. The final images successfully conveyed the facility’s modernity, innovation, and purpose-driven design.
