Project Spotlight: Atlanta Architectural Photography – Chattahoochee Technical College

I recently had the privilege of photographing the Veterans Education Center Transition Resource (VECTR) building at Chattahoochee Technical College. As an Architectural Photographer in Atlanta, I photograph all kinds of buildings and spaces. This one was definitely special due to its impact on the amazing service members of our military to help them transition from being in our armed services to civilian life.

Interiors

The VECTR building is about assisting veterans in their transition to civilian life, so the space had a classroom, meeting rooms, a recreation room, and private offices. The goal was to capture how these spaces could be used be staff and students. Each space was well thought out with different spaces to be used based on the needs at the moment of its users. Classic American themed colors are prevalent throughout the space and furniture. For all these images, I used a combination of natural and artificial light to highlight all the details and textures within the space.

Exteriors

This was not a new build, so the plan for the exterior shots was to highlight the new portico at the entrance as well as the new paint on the siding. As such, planning the shot so that the sun was in the right place was key. The mid-morning sun cast great light and perfect shadows with the overhang.

I felt truly privileged to photograph this project. This space one of the most impactful I have ever shot due to the work that goes on there. Also, the project team great was great to work with, and were excellent models for the people activation in the images. One of my favorite parts of being an architectural and interior design photographer is working with the project teams on-site to capture their vision.
